This project may appear as a contemporary new home in the countryside, however, it is the considered reworking of an existing 1980s house which was in need of remedial works. The opportunity allowed for the linking of the existing house via a new double height gallery space to an additional accommodation wing and the provision of a new glazed entrance linking to an historic stone building. The overall composition is reminiscent of a rural ‘clachan’ with its juxtaposition of massing and forms unified by white render and slate roofs. The landscaping scheme complements the material palette and roots the scheme within its rural context.
