This project is at the forefront of delivering a new model of care, the Enhanced Local Hospital. This model facilitates healthcare in the community, closer to people’s homes and integrates the breadth of primary care with aspects of secondary care facilities. Opened in early 2017, it acts as an exemplar for the strategic direction of healthcare across the UK. Hall Black Douglas worked closely at every stage of this project with Todd Architects, from site strategy and medical planning to detail clinical and interior design and delivery on site. The aim was to achieve best practice in the delivery of care and a healing environment, which enhances the privacy and dignity of the patient.
